Jay Mcfarland Announces Run for U.S. House of Representatives With UUP

Well-known podcaster and former KSL talk radio personality Jay Mcfarland announced today that he will run for U.S. House of Representatives in the 2nd Congressional District with the United Utah Party.  Jay has spent his career in radio fighting for principled politics, most notably as the host of the JayMac News Show on KSL News Radio in Salt Lake City.  Jay announced that he had joined the United Utah Party on his January 6th podcast.  "I believe that the United Utah Party is the best place moving forward, where we can create an opportunity to take back the power from the majority parties and return to a place where elected officials have to come to us for our vote, instead of knowing how we're going to vote," said Jay in his announcement.
Now that he has announced his candidacy for Utah's 2nd congressional district, Jay will be traveling throughout western Utah to rally support.  "Our main message is that we can win," Mcfarland said.  "I truly believe that the majority of Americans are somewhere right in the middle.  They're looking at both sides and they're shaking their heads.  Somebody's got to rally us together and provide a different path before it's too late.  That's why I've decided to run for office."
The United Utah Party represents an alternative to the hyper-polarized two-party system and is proud to have Jay as a member. "Jay has been an important part of the Utah community for a long time, and we are excited that he is willing to represent our party and state," says Hillary Stirling, United Utah Party chair. "Jay has always stood for accountability and integrity. He embodies the UUP's focus on truly representing voters' interests instead of picking partisan fights," Stirling said.
Jay is currently a Senior Tax Advisor with Trader Tax Pros in Lehi, Utah.  He is the author of two books on marriage and parenting.  Jay and his wife, Tiina, have four children together, as well as one dog and two cats.  "I believe in right versus wrong, not right versus left," Jay said.  "We are approaching a critical point in this country, where people believe that we are so terribly different, and we have chosen leaders who perpetuate that idea.  We are all so much more alike than the two parties want us to believe."
The United Utah Party will be holding a press conference over Zoom on Tuesday, February 22 at 10:00 am.  Members of the press and public are invited to attend.  The Jay Mcfarland Campaign and the United Utah Party will make a statement, and will be available to answer questions.
