The United Utah Party will be holding its third annual state convention on Saturday, April 18 at 10 AM. Due to COVID-19 social distancing guidelines still in place, the convention will not take place in any one physical location and will be held entirely online. Bruce Lindsay, former news anchor for KSL-TV, will be the keynote speaker at the convention.

The April 18 event will be a nominating convention where UUP statewide, federal, and multi-county legislative candidates will be formally nominated by the party in order to be placed on the November ballot.

“We had one candidate in 2017, 18 in 2018, and 25 this year. Every election cycle, we’ve seen more and more people choosing to run with the UUP,” Davis said. “Other than the two major parties, we have more candidates running than all other parties in Utah combined.”

Davis emphasized that the United Utah Party is prepared for the unique challenges of running a virtual convention.

“We were the first party in the state to decide to hold our caucuses and county conventions online,” said Richard Davis, United Utah Party Chair. “And even in our last two state conventions, we had delegates participating from satellite locations. Our goal has always been to facilitate greater inclusion and participation.”

All registered members of the United Utah Party are automatically delegates at the Convention, but Davis noted that all

“We invite all Utah voters to come to our convention from the comfort of their homes," Davis said. “They can see that our party is not about being on the left or the right.  It is about moving our state and nation ahead, together."
