UUP CONDEMNS ANTI-SEMITISM

A recent email from David Bateman, founder and chair of Utah tech firm Entrata, asserts that COVID-19 vaccines are part of a plot by “the Jews” for “the systematic extermination of billions of people.”

“This kind of bigotry and ignorance has no place in civilized public discourse,” said Hillary Stirling, United Utah Party Chair. “David Bateman’s anti-Semitic remarks are a disgrace and must be condemned in the strongest possible terms.”

Bateman gained notoriety in Utah politics by providing hundreds of thousands of dollars to the state Republican Party to foot the bill for a series of failed lawsuits that had left the party deeply in debt.

“Utah’s GOP is tied at the hip with Mr. Bateman, which means they have an ethical responsibility to disavow the poisonous rhetoric being spewed by their most prominent donor,” Stirling said. “Anti-Semitism should be offensive to all decent people, regardless of party affiliation.”

Stirling also noted that COVID vaccines have been proven to be safe and effective.

“Public figures have a responsibility to provide accurate information in the interest of public safety,” said Stirling. “Public health should not be a partisan issue.”
