What You Can Do

What You Can Do

Richard_Davis_from_Vaughn_copy.jpgAs we start a new year, I wonder what it will bring.  To the surprise of many, 2017 brought a new political party to Utah.  That political party organized and then ran in a Congressional campaign.  Our candidate, Jim Bennett, won nearly 10 percent of the vote - far exceeding what minor parties usually get.  In fact, he did better than any non-major party Congressional candidate in Utah's history.

Was that our goal?  Not hardly.  We enter 2018 with over 13,000 voters having cast a ballot already for a United Utah Party candidate.  We will build on that in 2018 and do much better, hopefully electing public officials who will make practicality, not partisanship, their guiding principle.

We will be running candidates in federal, state, and county offices. We will be competing for the support of Utahns.  We will be appealing to Utahns who want someone to unite us, rather than divide us.  Utahns want a party that will be practical and not partisan.  They want someone to bring back common sense and stop the partisan bickering.

The United Utah Party seeks to do that.

As this new year begins, consider what you might do to help.  Here are some suggestions:

If you haven't already, register with the party.  The more members we have, the more we are taken seriously by the press.  We may well be the smallest party in the state right now because most people still don't know we are the alternative they are looking for.  Help us grow.

Offer to be a precinct chair to help a candidate who is running.  Those who run are investing time and energy to make Utah and the nation a better place.  Help them out by offering to volunteer in your neighborhood and town.

Donate to the party.  Give whatever you can. But for as little as $20.00 a month (the cost of two movie tickets), you can help the party buy thousands of social media ad views, pay for the production of a set of social media videos, or buy a voter database subscription.

Offer to run for office.  Stretch yourself beyond what you think you can do in public service.  The experience will be time-consuming, but, win or lose, it will be enriching.

Go to http://unitedutah.org/volunteer to do these things.  Make the difference!

Also, forward this link to others you know who might be interested in helping out.

The English philosopher Edmund Burke once said:  All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing.

Good men and women are needed to make the world a better place.  The United Utah Party is one way to help make that happen.
